BOWEY BULLETIN
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s hard to believe the end of January is almost here and we’re well into the New Year. We hope you and your families enjoyed a restful and happy Winter Break.
At Clifford Bowey, we have a tradition of welcoming Santa to our school the week before the Winter Break and this year was no exception. Santa brought smiles to many students and shared his good cheer with all of us. We had lots of fun at our annual holiday concert which featured many student and staff performances. It was lovely to see the smiles of students, family members, and staff in the audience.
With all this cold weather, we’d like to remind you that keeping track of snow pants, hats, scarves and mittens for over 100 students can be challenging. Thank you for helping us by making sure that items are labelled with your child’s name.
And did you know …. that because of increased risks related to ice and snow, and to ensure student safety during the winter months, our playground equipment is not in use. We look forward to warmer days ahead and the reopening of our playground equipment in April.

School Learning Plan
This year our School Learning Plan is focusing on self-regulation. Self-regulation is what helps adults control their own behaviour. It has two important parts – the ability to control our impulses and stop doing something, and the capacity to do something even if we do not want to do it.
Teaching teams are working closely with our Speech Language Pathologists on how to help our students improve their self-regulation
Parent/Guardian Workshop on Self-regulation
On Thursday, February 28th from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Clifford Bowey, our two Speech Language Pathologists will hold a workshop on self-regulation. Please save the date.
Illness Policy
A reminder that if your child shows signs of illness while at school, it’s our policy that you receive a phone call from our office. Should it be necessary for your child to leave school, you’ll be asked to come to the school to pick up him or her. Since your child is likely not comfortable when ill, and in order to reduce the risk of others becoming ill, we ask that you co-operate with our policy. Please make sure your contact information is up to date with our office and that a plan is in place should you be asked to pick up your child from school.
